00:01 everyone. I forgot how much I hated the 00:04 traditional financial system and banking 00:06 system. So, here's the quick story of 00:08 the last uh 24 hours. So, I got this 00:11 refund on this 00:12 $14,000. And of course, I wanted to and 00:14 put it in Bitcoin as soon as possible. 00:16 So, the person who called me and told me 00:17 the refund had come in, I told them to 00:19 invest it to go deposit it in my account 00:22 at Trustark. And I said Trustmark uh 00:24 without thinking because there's just 00:26 more Trustmark branches than there are 00:28 Wells Fargo branches. So I thought I 00:30 just they can put it in Trustmark. I'll 00:31 pull it out of Trustmark. What I forgot 00:34 is that Trustmark for whatever reason 00:36 has disabled my ability to use Plaid. PL 00:40 L Aid D Plaid, which is the integration 00:42 that pretty much all uh financial apps 00:45 and websites use to integrate with a 00:47 bank account. So when I went in, I saw 00:50 the money finally show up this morning. 00:52 It was deposited yesterday, so it showed 00:54 up this morning. Took a takes us a long 00:56 time because it's the traditional 00:57 financial system. So, the money showed 00:59 up in Trustmark. Boom. I log into 01:01 Coinbase. I switch it over to Coinbase 01:03 Advanced. I click add funds to add 01:06 $14,000. And I see that Trust Mark is 01:10 not one of the options. I'm like, "Dang 01:12 it, I forgot that it had gotten unlin 01:14 from Vlad." So, I tried to add it. It 01:16 wouldn't add. So, I tried to add it 01:18 manually with a routing number and an 01:20 account number. And as soon as I do 01:21 that, it says, "Oh, uh, we have a custom 01:24 integration with Plaid, so you can't do 01:27 that." So I'm like, "Oh, dang it." Okay. 01:30 So, uh, because it wants you to use the 01:32 real the like the auto automated 01:34 integration. It won't let you add it by 01:35 you by an account number and routing 01:37 number unless they don't have a custom 01:39 integration. But the custom integration 01:41 with Trustmark uh, is currently disabled 01:44 for me by Trustmark for reasons I don't 01:46 know. So anyway, so I switched over and 01:49 I was like, I'll just see if I can use 01:50 Strike S I ke because I don't have 01:53 virtually any balance over there and I I 01:56 want to mess around with their bill pay 01:58 feature and see if I can get it working 01:59 since u Strike and or sorry since River 02:02 and Coinbase have not yet rolled out 02:04 bill pay features even though I believe 02:06 both of them are rolling them out later 02:07 this year. So, I rolled over to Strike 02:09 and uh Strike has the same problem with 02:12 uh well, it's not a Strike problem, but 02:14 uh because I couldn't I also couldn't 02:16 pull the money out that way because uh 02:19 Strike behaves the same way that 02:21 Coinbase does. It wants to use the 02:23 standard uh Trust Mark integration. That 02:26 does not work. You try to add it 02:28 manually by username, sorry, by account 02:30 number and routing number. And it says 02:32 you have to use the automated 02:34 integration by Plaid, which of course is 02:36 disabled by Trust. Okay. So, then I go 02:38 into Wells then I tr go into uh 02:40 Trustmark and see if I can move the 02:42 money to Wells Fargo. Uh which I can't 02:45 because Trust Mark does not give you any 02:47 way to move the money to Wells Fargo 02:48 unless you like go into the branch and 02:50 do a wire transfer or at least I 02:52 couldn't figure it out. So then I went 02:53 into Wells Fargo, back linked it with 02:56 Trustmark and initiated a transfer where 02:60 it sucked the money from Trustark to 03:01 Wells Fargo because I know I can buy 03:03 Bitcoin with my Wells Fargo account. 03:04 that's worked even when coin uh even 03:07 with trust mark stopped working. So I 03:09 initiated a $14,000, you know, 03:12 withdrawal of funds and it tells you, 03:13 hey, when you initiate this, it's, you 03:15 know, irreversible. So as soon as I 03:17 click yes, like go ahead and do it, it 03:19 tells me, okay, your irreversible 03:21 withdrawal has 03:22 started. The funds will not be there 03:24 till the next business day, which is the 03:26 27th of 03:28 May, 23rd of May. But because we have a 03:31 long weekend, the funds don't get there 03:33 till the 27th of May. And I'm like, are 03:35 you kidding me? I am absolutely 03:37 positively not waiting for Tuesday of 03:39 next week. So, um, but I it's like I 03:42 can't reverse it. I can't stop it. So, 03:44 anyway, so then I go into River, which 03:47 River generally does a better job of 03:49 just, you know, everything these days. 03:53 River actually does allow you to 03:55 integrate directly with um uh with a 03:59 bank account. So I tried to integrate it 04:00 with uh trustmark using plaid and it 04:03 says uh the same problem as coinbase and 04:06 strike but when you try to integrate it 04:08 man manually it says sure we'll we'll 04:10 try to you know do the manual 04:12 integration. So the way they do that is 04:14 they deposit one penny in your account 04:16 and they deposit it along with a 04:19 source you know sort of a source account 04:22 and then you just have to go into river. 04:23 It takes a couple hours for that deposit 04:25 to hit. You have to go into Tresmark, 04:28 look at the deposit of one penny, and 04:30 then enter the code from that deposit 04:32 that comes with the deposit over into 04:35 River and link the accounts. So, it took 04:37 a couple hours for that one penny 04:38 deposit to show up in Trustmark. As soon 04:40 as it did, I manually linked it to 04:42 River. I initiated a $14,000 purchase. 04:46 So, now one of those two things is not 04:48 going to go through. either um River is 04:53 going to try to pull the funds out of 04:54 Trustmark and Trust Mark's not going to 04:55 let it because the initiation has 04:59 already been triggered by Wells Fargo to 05:02 move the funds over to Wells Fargo. And 05:04 so when um when River tries to pull the 05:06 funds, it's going to tell it it can't or 05:08 the reverse is going to be true. even 05:10 though I've already initiated the 05:11 purchase on 05:13 River, it could be that that the it goes 05:16 through on River and then uh when Wells 05:20 Fargo tries to pull the funds from 05:21 Trustmark, they're going to say, "Nope, 05:23 you know, River got there first." So, 05:25 one of the two is going to try to get 05:26 there first and the funds are either 05:27 going to be pulled out of Trustmark to 05:29 River for the $14,000 purchase I already 05:32 did, which I posted to Facebook, or that 05:35 uh or Wells Fargo is going to get there 05:37 first and pull the funds into Wells 05:39 Fargo, in which case then I will go buy 05:41 the Bitcoin from Wells Fargo. So, this 05:46 sort of manic idiocy does not exist in 05:50 the world of Bitcoin. In the world of 05:51 Bitcoin, you send Bitcoin to people and 05:53 it shows up immediately and you there's 05:56 not these multi-our multi-days. It's 05:58 closed on Memorial Day, you know, you 06:01 know, there's funds have to settle. I 06:03 mean, this just insane idiocy, stupidity 06:07 of the traditional financial system 06:08 completely does not exist in the world 06:10 of Bitcoin. When I want to send Bitcoin 06:12 to people, which I do all the time. I 06:13 pay bills with Bitcoin. I, you know, I 06:15 send Bitcoin to people to settle 06:17 invoices. You know, most of the payment 06:19 I do of people, vendors, I do with 06:22 Bitcoin and it's great. They send me a 06:24 Bitcoin invoice, which looks like a 06:25 Bitcoin address. I paste it in River if 06:28 it's per business or I paste it in 06:30 Coinbase if it's personal and I just 06:33 send the Bitcoin and boom, I get it. 06:35 Like, it shows up a few seconds later as 06:37 pending, 10 minutes later it's 06:39 finalized. And it's just this whole 06:42 insanity is just ridiculous. Anyway, so 06:45 I had to jump through all those hoops. 06:47 It took me an hour or two this morning 06:49 to finally get all of that linked. 06:50 Hopefully, when all the dust settles, 06:52 I'll have an extra $14,000 of Bitcoin. 06:54 If not, I'll jump through even more 06:56 hoops to get those US dollars converted 06:58 into Bitcoin as soon as possible. It 07:00 just reminded me how absolutely insane I 07:03 want to move money between two bank 07:04 accounts that I own and control. And the 07:07 fastest I can do that, unless I drive to 07:09 a branch and sit there like an idiot and 07:12 fill out paperwork with a pen and 07:14 pencil, if I don't do that, the funds 07:16 can't get there before Tuesday of next 07:18 week between two bank accounts that I 07:21 control at two banks that both have 07:23 branches within eyesight of each other. 07:26 But I can't I can't move money between 07:27 them unless I go to the branch and wire 07:30 transfer it, which cost me 25 bucks. and 07:32 I got to walk in there and use a piece 07:34 of paper and a pencil and a, you know, 07:36 and a pen like an idiot. So, uh, since I 07:39 didn't want to do that, it says I got to 07:41 wait till Tuesday. And so, I jump 07:43 through all these hoops to try to bypass 07:44 that. But that's just crazy. It's 07:46 absolutely crazy. And it's crazy that a 07:48 deposit I get yesterday doesn't show up 07:50 till today. Why today? Like, why do I 07:53 have to wait overnight for my money to 07:55 become available to me? And why when I 07:58 want to move my money between two bank 08:00 accounts that are both in my name, both 08:02 of which that I control that are 08:04 identical, they're just at two different 08:06 banks, why do I have to wait for Tuesday 08:08 of next week to move the money? That's 08:10 absolutely crazy. Bitcoin will make all 08:12 has already made all of that obsolete. 08:14 It's just a matter of everybody catching 08:16 up so that I get refunds in Bitcoin 08:19 instead of having to jump through these 08:20 hoops to convert US dollars into 08:22 Bitcoin. So, the whole legacy financial 08:25 system is slowly going away and it can't 08:28 come fast enough. Every time I have to 08:29 interact with the legacy traditional old 08:32 school financial system, it reminds me 08:34 how ridiculously antiquated it is. It 08:37 feels like I'm climbing into a horse and 08:40 buggy to try to move around instead of 08:43 the 2026 Tesla Model Y that moves me 08:46 around. When I'm using Bitcoin, it feels 08:48 like I'm in my Tesla 2026 Model Y with 08:51 full self-driving engaged, watching it 08:54 drive me around. That's what Bitcoin 08:55 feels like to use. Whenever I have to 08:57 use the traditional banking system, it 08:59 feels like I'm climbing in a horse and 09:01 buggy. It's absolutely insane. So 09:04 hopefully I'll get this US dollars into 09:06 Bitcoin one way or the other. Either 09:08 River's going to go through or Wells 09:10 Fargo is going to go through and I'm 09:12 going to pull it out and buy it. buy the 09:14 Bitcoin in from Wells Fargo. One of 09:16 those two is going to go through and 09:18 it's either already in Bitcoin or it's 09:20 going to be in Bitcoin, you know, as 09:21 fast as conceivably possible. So anyway, 09:24 have a great day everyone and I hope the 09:26 transition to the new financial system 09:28 of Bitcoin happens, you know, just as 09:30 fast as conceivably possible because the 09:32 old school system's absolutely insane. 09:34 It's just absolutely insane. Have a 09:36 great day, everyone.
